Smugvault question

Hi,
I've read the blurb on Smugvault and have a question... For 70GB of photographs (and rising) I'm looking for safe, secure online storage should the inevitable happen and my hard drive lunches itself.
How does the pricing work?
Do I upload to Smugvault for x amount?
What then do I pay monthly? Is it a fee to store my photos? Or a fee dependant on the size I store?
Will what I pay monthly, rise with the amount I store or is it a one off payment for the amount I upload, and then a fixed monthly payment for the account?
Hope that's not too confusing.
Regards
Dave
p.s. Thanks for sorting out my Dgrin so I can post again.

    Hi Dave,

Details on the vault pricing can be found here: http://www.smugmug.com/price/smugvault.mg

    To answer your specific questions:

Storage costs $.125 per gigabyte per month So for 70 GB you would pay approximately $8.75 per month. If you store more, that price will increase. You also have to pay the $1 monthly recurring fee. Uploading is free, downloading is $.12 per GB. These fees are in addition to your regular SmugMug subscription. I hope that helps.

And for secure storage, you may also want to look at other options like backblaze. Both Andy and jfriend use it and are really happy with it. You can also look at local sets of multiple drive. At 8*12=$96/yr, you can get two 100gb drives that will last at least a year. It's a bit of hassle to buy and sell drives every year, but you also have the advantage of local access to rebuild a failed drive. Downloading can take time, and these things never happen at the best moment.

    Hi,
Thanks for your replies and apologies for not replying sooner. (Life got in the way)
Checking out backblaze and although I've considered extra drives at home, I'd like the security offered by online services.
    Thanks again

Where exactly do I send a Picture to Smugvault??
I signed up for the AWS.amazon.com and now I want to upload a 90MB file and have it printed.
    1. Where do I upload the picture to?
    2. How do I get it printed - 24"X 36"
    3. Can somebody come the the smugmug homepage of mine and see the picture?
4.Will 40 MB larger make the print better?
    5. Does 240 dpi make the print better than lower resolution??

Sorry I new to this and find the details real confusing.

Hi, it's not possible to print at our labs from SmugVault files. We allow JPGs of up to 100Megapixels and 50Megabytes in the regular SmugMug gallery, you can print your 24x36 from there. 40Megabytes more won't make any photo "better" necessarily. I routinely print photos 6 feet, 8feet wide here for my studio, from files that were under 24Mb. DPI? Check this: http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/2996921

SmugVault when you have it activated, if you use our regular uploader in a gallery, big files (over 50mb, 100mp), and non-jpg files will be vaulted.
