Love it! The only way that I can see to improve would be to play with the crop around the chair area. Other than that, fantastic!

Really cool! Kinda would like to see the model sort of mimicking the lamp with her arms. Love the chair & b/w, great title too! :)

Great photo! Without the title tho... I would have never gotten "C".

Thanks! I have a little room in the original - what do you suggest?

Thanks! I thought about that, but shot this one during a shoot. It was a one shot deal.

Thanks! I was looking at all sorts of "C" things. We were shooting some other stuff, I mentioed the lamp and she said "That's Coco..." you know the rest. clap.gif

I think Sandi has a great thought. The image has this great clean feel to it with the white and minimal objects in the frame. I think that when the chair breaks the frame, it says, "there's more here in the room".
If you can include the entire chair, cleanly, I feel the image would isolate the lamp and woman, emphasizing a private moment between woman and lamp.

I love this! I love the crisp black and white. The missing part of the chair does sort of bug me, too, if you can do a different crop to include the entire chair. I think it's theme worthy for sure--says CONVERSATION to me.

Agree with the others - I want the rest of the chair.

As for the "C", no it's not immediately obvious without the title, but when you think about it "chair" and "conversation" are obvious C's in the image, and Coco's just icing on the cake... thumb.gif

Her focus on the lamp is much better. But I still would love to see it wiht the entire chair.

One more - unfortunately the framing is just a little too tight to get the chair in completely (I only shot 2), but this one was processed a little differently.

The second one is better for me. It might be better if you had the entire chair, but just to have her looking up at the lamp is much better. I like it a lot more now.

Thanks everyone for answering for me. I've been off of the site for a few days. You said what I wanted to say. Either add more chair (or crop more of it out).

    At any rate, better!

my first thought was to agree with Sandi, but in re-looking I do like the new crop above...
For me, I see it as allowing the missing chair to be part of the creative thought process, rather than my feeling the comp was slightly off during the shot.
In either instance, a very good shot!
    Good luck.

Is it just me, or is she not really looking /conversing with the lamp. Looks like your human model is looking out towards her right, and thus not quite "conversing" with Coco. ??

the original image did look that way, but the recent versions, she appears to be looking up at the shade.

Thansk for the continued C&C. In the first shot, she is not looking directly at Coco which is one of the reasons I entered the second.

    Chad,

Did you try this with the blinds closed? or with a solid color chair? The different patterns kind of mess with my vision... anyway, I think it would convey the message better if the model was dressed similar to the lamp or dressed like Chanel with a big hat, the bare feet kind of bother me... I like the concept and it works well for the contest... Great lamp by the way where on earth did you get it?

We were in the middle of a shoot on location and I took 2 quick shots between other stuff. Unfortunately these are the only the only two. The lamp is really cool and a conversation piece.

You've captured a lot of fun in this shot and I think the many patterns are OK, especially since it's in B+W. I like the one you entered. GP

Chad, I see that you already have plenty of input on this shot but will add my two cents. Quirky title gets our attention and the photo delivers. I like the black and white treatment. I agree that it would have been ideal to have a wider shot to include the chair. I actually like the model with her bare feet tucked up on the chair - to me it conveys the feeling of a cozy conversation between friends - even though one of these is inanimate. :D

    Good luck!
