thumb.gif This is a nice shot. I like how you placed the horizon low in the frame to emphasize the rain and clouds. It's great as is, but I wonder if the photo would have a more dramatic impact if the clouds were darker, yet maintaining the graytone of the rain and the highlights in the clouds? How is the color version?

    rpavich, thanks very much.

TreyHoff, I appreciate the comments. I tried it with more dramatic clouds but it began to look unreal to me. This version is closer to what I saw. I don't think images always have to be anchored to what we saw, but here I preferred it.

The color version looked like this, although I didn't work it up completely because I knew I didn't like it:

I shot with daylight white balance and the storm had a very blue light.

Call me crazy, but I actually like the color version better. That's a great little storm you captured. thumb.gif

I really love the second version. It almost looks like the eye of a hurricane dumping rain.

kdog, TreyHoff, Doug, thanks very much for commenting. You have me wondering if I rejected the color version too quickly. Maybe I'll work it up and see what I think.
