Feisol tripod and Photo Clam ball head

Well I'm about the pull the trigger on a Feisol tripod and Photo Clam ball head. After reading several of the reviews here as well as other places it seems like this is the best bang for the buck. There is however one question I have with respect to ball head selection. Specifically, what size of ball head is appropriate to match to a Feisol ct-3441t for use with my heaviest kit which ATM is a Nikon d300s with grip and a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 with a 2X teleconverter? Their offerings range from a 30mm to a 70mm ball.

Also if this sounds like I'm about to make a big mistake here feel free to let me know.
