My client can no longer create cards.... help!

So, I had a client who was designing different card options through the Card Creater on Smugmug. Thursday everything was fine. Yesterday, she went back on and couldn't get into the card creater. She got a Holy Batman error about not haveing the right version of Flash or Adobe. But the day before everything worked fine.

She said she tried to update her flash but it said she had the latest version... Then *I* went to create a card and see what would happen and it said I had to use Google Chrome or Firefox.

Sorry, but 95% of my clients still use internet explorer...

Any idea what changed between Thursday and Friday?

Somehow she's not got flash - maybe she's using a different computer :) The Holy HTTP Batman message prompts them to get flash, here's the link: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Andy, I have IE8, but I still get the message that I need to use Firefox or Chrome... but on Thursday I was able to get into the card creater... so because she and I both were fine Thursday, but not yesterday and today I was curious if something had changed. ;)

Yes, something changed. On Thursday night an update was rolled out for new cards. http://news.smugmug.com/2011/12/01/create-edit-and-sell-custom-photo-cards/ That might have something to do with it. I have a hunch though that the heroes will get your straightened out quickly though.

My cards feature is broken too. Broken in Firefox 8.0.1, Chrome 15 and Safari 5.1.2. After picking the card size the page just hangs and does not go any further.

Please fix this problem because people are tring to order xmas cards. I have similar issue tring to create a card. I am using IE9 and have never changed really any settings at all so it's basically default IE9.

When I choose to make a 4x8 or 5x7 after that screen I get this message.

    We're sorry!

I haven't disabled any cookies and I should not have to mess with anysettings or should any of my clients. This worked fine before that last update. hopeing you will look into this before that holidays so some clients can have cards.

Also one client informed me that the add to cart button wasn't working, adding her card to the cart. Stange problems maybe a hotfix soon? thumb.gif

Hi Andy I messaged the Smug Mug Hero's and this was their reply:

    Hello Marina,

    Thanks for your email.

We are sorry to hear that your customers are having trouble. They can always contact us directly for troubleshooting assistance.

As far as enabling cookies, this has been with us since the beginning. It is what allows your customers to add items to their shopping cart, and get their orders placed. That hasn't changed. So, if they want to place orders, they will have to enable 3rd party cookies, and follow the directions on this page here: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93251-viewing-problems-

If you have any questions or problems, please let us know.

To Andy: Andy my concern is that with Internet Explorer the default cookie settings are the secure settings, most people are not willing to change their secure default settings or have to follow directions on how to change their secure settings to make a card, usually they end up changing their mind when they run into a road bump, and simply don't want to buy any cards. With Google Chrome it does not ask you to enable cookies on my end, is there a way the card maker would work like it did before, the people that tried making cards didn't have any problems until the new update was released? I would love the new Card Maker if only it worked like it used to before the new update and was available to every browser user??? thr Card maker looks great but it's not as efficient as the old one at creating cards, because it may possibly have a few bugs? Why can't everyone create cards without being asked to change setting on their computer? Please help...

I checked this on my Internet Explorer with default security:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/283274/sc4/20111211164259-00742x5916242.jpg

    and privacy settings:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/283274/sc4/20111211164321-00743x2116243.jpg

(as far as I can tell - the default button is grayed out and if I change a setting and I can reset it back to the defaults shown in my screenshot)

and I'm not getting the message about cookies. In general for customers placing orders, the default cookie settings should suffice.
Do you maybe have a toolbar or add-on/extension installed in your browser that might be interfering with our cookies?

Please reply back to your helpdesk ticket so we can continue to work on your issue. It's best troubleshooted on our helpdesk where we have all the information in one place, including your ticket history and account details.
