First fall family shoot

I've been doing some nightclub work and automotive photography for a while so family photos are totally new to me. I've got a problem with cutting off feet and arms it seems but other than that just looking for some feedback. Thanks!

    I think the first shot would be much stronger with dad cropped out or being completely in the frame. the half in/half out thing just doesn't work for me.. :\ I love the mum's emotion, though.
