Nice idea, but there are a few things that I would suggest. Using the first image as an example, it is underexposed by at least 1 stop, the contrast is of, and it is quite noisy. Now, all or some can be intentional, and that is fine, but I think that the combination is working against the image.

I can share an edit if you wish.

I understand, I am unhappy with #1, the focus was to be able to read the lettering, the chocolate is a little dark. Feel free to share an edit. I have several other originals from that shoot I may need to revisit.

Up-close comparison before and after noise adjustment:
    noise01.jpg

Before and after some finer tweaks, including in Lightroom doing exposure adjustment of about 1 stop, added a bit more red, and boosting the overall contrast some; and in Photoshop I used a large feathered brush to burn over the Ghirardelli letters to boost the shadow contrast some more.

I would use a warm finger (or other tool) along the edge of the chocolate to remove the rough edges, too.

Sweet! Nice Job. I need to brush up on my Photoshop skills. I'll have to take a run at trying that on my own with the same file. The results are fabulous. It may take a day... Thanks Keith.
