#1 has a lot going for it--composition, lines, light, juxtaposition. Nicely seen. I think #2 has too much dead space to the left.

Fine work, Jennifer. #1 is good street. #2 is very good environmental portraiture. Placement of the figure is good, and you need the interestingly textured "dead space" to the left.

I like #1, but prefer #2 for the portraiture aspect. That type of 'edgy' image in #2 I find more appealing if I had to compare them.

Frist time I saw #1 I thought you had posted two pictures-- I use the "White" dgrin background for readability, which happens to be the same tone as the dividing line to the wall in the middle, so I saw two landscape photographs instead of one portrait image of two separate subjects. Neat.

Thanks guys. About the long shot... After seeing others here with their long-lense shots, I brought out my 180mm prime to see what all the fun was about. Of course, most of my shots with it were to see how close I could get and still have the darned thing focus. I really love it's rendering though. I'll post a few others over the next week or so. The second was on the opposite end of the spectrum, the 20mm taken in a back Melbourne Laneway.
