Hello there,

I'm René from the Netherlands and a newbie on DGRIN.

Portraiture has my special interest and I'm hoping that your feedback is going to bring my skill's to another level.

This model is Amankay, 2nd time photoshoot and a very shy girl (serious) with incredible eyes.

Kind regards, René

    Hoi Rene,

First of all welcome. Its good to see a neighbor.
    Now back to the portrait:

Its a nice shot with a great DOF, however I seem to notice something strange about the shoulders.
Maybe it is the manipulation that was done afterwards.
The color of the skin is a bit greenish , so is the white of the eyes. Maybe its my Macbook screen.
For the rest a nice picture..

I see a lot of green in this too, D3, but I am also on a Macbook :D.

The shallow DOF, or artificial creation of it, doesn't do the girl much justice in the shoulder area, as it almost gives it a disembodied head look. Along with that, the eyes appear slightly off camera...does anyone else notice this?

    Not a bad shot, though.

Thanks for the comments! I appreciate that.

The green is caused by a green texture I blended in the background which was completely blown-out white. The girl was wearing a white T-shirt: there was no sharp border at her shoulders.
This photo was taken in a studio and I had never made photo's with studio flashlight. I guess my next purchase would be a lightmeter. rolleyes1.gif

Eyes slightly off-camera: oops! I'll pay more attention to it next time. thumb.gif

    Kind regards, René

I really like this image. I'm not at all bothered by the creamy shoulder, and the eyes look fine (wonderful actually) to me. The green cast is a turn-off though. Why don't you mask her face and hair to get rid of the green in those areas.

You could actually crop this above the melting shoulders and still be ok.
    Nice photo, post more :).

Don't feel bad Renem, I'm still working on masking skillz myself. Lovely girl and love the eyes. The hair style is awesome. I'm a noob myself and coming here has really helped in so many ways. Who better to learn from, then the best. I did notice the green tint, as soon as I opened the thread. Just for practice, hope you don't mind, I saved you're image and played with it. I changed the tint ever so slightly in Gimp and turned the saturation up about 4 tics to bring up the skin tones. I didn't change anything else. Maybe this will help?
