Really crunched for time this go round... got a couple of shots at the outdoor ice rink at the mall. Does this have any promise?

The pant and shoe overwhelms the view of the ICE. The Ice has a little too much contrast, could almost be cement, I can not see much of the Ice skates blade.

This has a similar problem to Sword's ice/pickle jar...the viewer
can't instantly identify the ice as ice. We know it's ice because
the thread is about ice, but we wouldn't know if the photos were
    viewed outside the thread.

Ice is tough, very tough, to photograph. (That's why this might
be a good mandate experience) I think an ice skating rink
could be the source of a great photo for this assignment, but
I'd pull 'way back. Get the whole skater or a group of skaters.
That way the ice connection is very obvious.

I think that qwe know it's ice because of the context of the skate. Not a fan of this type of processing usually, but it works here. I'd crop a bit off the jeans and give it some more room ahead of the toe...more of a horizontal view.

When you come to a door... walk through it.

I have mixed feelings about it. I like the image in general, but if I didn't know the topic was ice I wouldn't recognize it right away as being ice or ice skates. It's like the boot and jean leg is more the subject vs. the ice.

Here's a re-edit... I know a little late for real feed back... but does this make the ice look more like ice?

I think the cooler color temperature works better on this shot.
