The biggest improvements appear to be video capabilities which I have zero interest in. Do the other improvements justify a $6K expenditure? I may just take a pass and keep on shooting with the D3s for a few more years.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.

    Looks cool, I guess.
Kinda hard to beat what Nikon already has on the market.

I think this baby looks like Nikon has a winner. For me, they have practically melded the D3s and D3x into a single body. Higher resolution than the D3s and much better low light performance than the D3x. I'll take 10 fps any day. OK, it's a bit big, but it's actually smaller and lighter than a gripped D700 full of AAs. My credit cards are scurrying for hiding places. Oh well, B&H won't sell it 'till Feb 16th anyway. Plenty of time to read reviews and sell some family heirlooms.

This is pass for me as well. Don't care about video, 12mp has been plenty for me for years. I am still shooting d3 d700 and they do everything I need.

Not sure if already posted, but here's another link http://www.joemcnally.com/blog/2012/01/06/shooting-the-d4/ with a description of what it's like in the "real" world.

I might feel the same if I already had a D3.

I hear you Icebear. Truth is I take 5 shots with the d700 for every 1 I take with the D3.
I would love a D3s but can't justify the cost :cry.
Maybe the prices on those will drop hugely now....hope.

Why do I have this image of a bunch of Canon developers hurriedly de-crippling the 5D MkIII firmware? :)
