Darn it Mark, I really want to see it in focus too! I also wish it was shot in landscape maybe, feels so tight.
However the joy is still apparent. Makes me smile looking at it.
It brings a smile to my face. This sort of photo is tricky. I have seen "similar" photos where it works when the focus is in the front and the smile is not, and vice verse.
Often some other minor insignificant element makes such image works. Only solution is to to keep shooting and try different focus point and DoF...
I wouldn't call this necessary a miss, thing like this may appeal after many viewing.

Thanks. Despite it's obvious deep technical flaws, the few people I've show it to so far has smiled.
