I've been experimenting with abstracts lately. I keep most of my abstracts as shot, with a boost in contrast and saturation as needed. Occasionally, I will process and modify them in PS. Comments are appreciated.

1. "Horizon" - Had this one printed on metal & it looks great; thanks BayPhoto

2. "Autumn Melody"

3. "Tropical Breeze" - Palm tree in Puerto Rican rainstorm

4. "Green Bokeh"

That's really playing to a strong suit, Lauren. I rank your abstracts right up there with anyone. I agree with Richard, that first one is D-Y-N-A-M-I-T-E.clap.gif

Thanks, Richard! I'm glad you like #1, as it is probably my favorite abstract I've done. (FYI, it was picked for an on-line gallery exhibit last month. :D)

Tom, I told you I was going to be doing some abstract work. :D Glad you like what you've seen so far . . . more to come!

Hi Lauren, the first and last ones for me - however they are all very interesting. :D

    Cheers, Richard.

    Thanks, Mary.

FYI, that first shot was made solely by camera motion. It was shot at f6.7, 1/6 sec at dawn. It's a single tree standing on the bank of the Sheepscot River in Maine. The horizon line is the opposite shore of the river.

    Thanks, all!

I wouldn't of known it was done by motion. Thanks for the insight. I'm going to have to try it out :D

I'm with the majority - #1 is AMAZING and must be stunning on metal. OK, now that you've tempted me with that and the fact that you've also done one from the shoot we did together here in NB, I HAVE to come for a visit to see them hanging. :) My second favourite is #3 the palm leaves. I like abstracts that have a touch of reality to them - just a personal preference.

Thanks, Ceci! You are welcome here anytime except Feb--I will be back in Maine then. :D I'm already thinking about more NB abstracts for next year--we need to find more waterfalls.

#1 is quite a good shot, but the others really don't have
much appeal to me. Even in an abstract, I like to be able
to tell what it started off as. Just me, I guess.

Next visit we'll go to Albert Co. (about an hour's drive from home) and stay the night so we can do dawn on the floor of the Bay of Fundy AND find a couple of those bigger waterfalls from 'the book'.clap.gif

Thanks, Tony. Abstracts are definitely not for everyone and if they are each person has their own preference. #1 is definitely my own favorite of this bunch. Thanks for looking and commenting!

Ceci, you are on for Albert Co.!
