no orange tones in prints- bad color profiles?

Might be a long shot but thought I'd ask... I'm on an iMac and using an HP B8850 printer. The prints are all coming out with no orange tones. Ink cartridges and printheads are all fine. Here's the weird part, printing on plain old copy paper everything is fine. Printing on photo paper and the orange tons are missing and picture look all washed out.

So, that led me to believe it was a color profile issue (the .icc files). I deleted all of the HP software and drivers and reinstalled with the updates but have the same issue. I opened Colorsync Utility to "verify" the profiles and all of the profiles associated with my printer are "bad" and can't be repaired. I switched drivers and the new associated profile were then bad and couldn't be repaired. Here's the error message...

/Library/Printers/hp/Profiles/photosmart/HP PSPro B8800-Advanced Photo Glossy.icc

I have posts up on the Apple Support Community and a couple of other places (HP is NO help). Thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had come across this before? Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm guessing it's this bad color profile issue, but could it be something else?

any advice or suggestions would be a great help. I'm completely stuck and pulling out what little hair I have left!

cheers,
Aaron
