It was taken in Minneapolis, MN.

I read about them turning on the lights for these arches, but wasn't able to make the opening. (I'm in St. Cloud)
They look to be an interesting subject - you've done a a nice job using them to lead the eye to the skyline.

The arches should be lit up from now on though so you're welcome to stop by and shoot at your leisure.
Thanks again for looking.

strong lighting on the bridge overpowering the foreground. Or maybe it's
the competition for main subject between the bridge and the skyline?
Both the bridge and skyline are worthy subjects. Maybe stepping back or
using a slight different angle would allow you to better capture one or the
other.

The eye seems to wander from the bridge to the city skyline and even on the dead tree in the water. Technically i guess one thing should draw your eye in more then another but i still like the photo very much.
It would stand out amongst other skyline pictures.
btw - Did you use bracketing and whatnot to avoid blown highlights?

Very nice shot. I was down there on Monday evening and nearly took the exact same shot you did.
I'd love to see any additional shots you took. It's a great subject but you're limited to certain angles due to the water and powerplant to the left and the powerlines above. Great work.

I can see the problem you point out but as Adam said there is a very very limited set of angles to shoot from. And yes I did blend two shots about 3 stops apart to get rid of some blown highlights on some of the buildings and keep some shadow detail on the bridge using this technique.
Glad to know there are other Dgrinners out and about in Minneapolis Adam. I tried walking through the trees to find another angle down the bank to the left in this shot but it's all blocked out and then you run into the power plant. I wonder if they'd allow access to the river through their yard...
Thanks for looking guys, Jeff

I really like this photo. Also, thanks for the link to the discussion on layering. It's very helpful information. :
