Too much post-processing. It's a very good composite, but it's neither street nor PJ.
Thanks for the comments.
Ironically the blown out lighting isn't do to post-processing. I just picked a bad time of day to take the shot. Strong lighting on the back wall as well as from above was doing strange things.
I agree that the image is in a strange category. Feels more kind of Norman Rockwell-ish to me.

There are two images here, not one composite. And both are street images. So let's just say that I totally disagree.
I assume that these are meant to be challenge entries for the theme Headlines. While there's some connection in both, the first relies on word-play, not imagery. It's a stretch. The second has a newspaper, but we don't actually see a headline, so the connection is tenuous at best. They're not bad shots--I rather like the second, in fact, but if I were shown these shots without any prior information and asked for the first ten things that come to mind, I'm pretty sure headlines would not be on my list.
#2 has more possibilities to me.
You needed more face I think.
Have you looked at the current submissions?
Yeah, I've looked at the current submissions and realized I've got a long way to go. Too many over the shoulder or front facing type shots. I need to be more creative. Day job keeps me from shooting when people may actually be out reading that old newspaper thing.

I totally agree on neither category
Collage of two different photos = Art; a different category
I agree on headlines comments
The subtle sat of the background contrasts the color of frenzied hair - good job... The reaction to the news is a good graphic example of the WTF that I read everyday.
You may not win the contest, but it inspired you to do an excellent image & that's a win ...
You're right, Richard. I must be going blind. I saw it as a single image. Individually they're not bad.
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. At first glance, I thought that
SamoBiker had stepped on his anatomy where it hurts and
submitted one of those images that is black and white except
for one part in color. (Not that I ever would!) (Right, BD?)
I like the top image very much as a choice of subject,
but the composition misses because the image cuts
off so closely to the bottom. It looks like the people
are standing on a gray floor, but the floor turns out
to be the background of the posting space. Too tight
on the left, also.
That would be worth a go-back.
I don't know what the "Headline" challenge is, so
I can't comment on the appropriateness to the
theme, but knowing it's about a headline makes
me think "Hey! The point of the shot is blown out!".
Without knowing it's about a headline, I like the
impression of the subject being fed up with what
he's reading about.
Tony, I agree the crop is too tight on the top image. The headlines contest requires a square crop. Here is the original size of the Information Stand. I still have a tendency to chop off feet. The first step to overcoming a problem is admitting you have one. Evidently I hate feet.

Me too. I take back my comment (can I unring a bell?)
Here's a link from the Flicker group where the submittals are shown.
