Card Readers

Hi Everyone,
I've had a number of card readers recently. The internal CF reader went bad, the two external readers I bought to replace have stopped also. They were both mid-range or so i thought, but only lasted a couple of months.
Looking through reviews on Newegg and Amazon I continuously find that most card readers fail between 6 months to a year.
So I wanted to post a question here to see if A) the average life span is less than a year no matter what or anyone have a card reader that's lasted longer than year? If so which one?

Lexar makes a very nice USB 3.0 dual slot card reader for CF and SD format cards.
