Card Readers

Hi Everyone,

I've had a number of card readers recently. The internal CF reader went bad, the two external readers I bought to replace have stopped also. They were both mid-range or so i thought, but only lasted a couple of months.

Looking through reviews on Newegg and Amazon I continuously find that most card readers fail between 6 months to a year.

So I wanted to post a question here to see if A) the average life span is less than a year no matter what or B) anyone have a card reader that's lasted longer than year? If so which one?

My external readers last that long but none of my internals have. I've replaced the card reader in my desktops multiple times.

I have several card readers over 3 years old that are still working just fine.

Lexar makes a very nice USB 3.0 dual slot card reader for CF and SD format cards.
