Okay, I must admit that the photo of "Panchito and Big Nick" is one I like a lot, but try as I might, I could not find a solution to the big white sky.... So, I took a trip back in time to the train station of my city's early years.

Here are a few options for your comment, consideration. All were tweaked with different levels of HDR:

#1 definitely! Love the black and white...there's a real old feeling to this photo.

I agree with PedalGirl! For me, #2 is a bit too surreal. Can't decide if I prefer 3 over 4....it's a close call.

I like the composition of 1, but the color of 2.

What I liked about the first was seeing the whole cart. It fit better in the context. But the processing is cool.

If the exercise is to see what type of post-processing brings
out the best of a photo, I'd try the view shown in #1 in color
with the red of the cart adjusted in Photoshop's "Replace
Color" to brighten it up considerably. It'll require masking,
though, because you won't want to brighten the red in the
woodwork paint and have it compete with the cart.

Greg - I meant to reprocess #1 in color, but inadvertently pulled up one with another POV (showing more of the cart, but not all).

Tony - As you may have noted in other posts, I'm not a big fan of extreme processing, but... I do like to experiment and see what I can accomplish. This shot seemed to be one that might work (or at least give me reason to cook the final version a bit). I like your suggestion about replacing color in PS. If I can find some time before Monday, I'll give it a shot - Thanks!

Bill, I love #2 (but like the suggestions of Greg and Tony). I'm also attracted to #4...especially given the context of the demise of post offices across the country and the old/new theme. In addition, I find the color fascinating in the shot. Well done, as always.

    Okay, Greg and Tony...

Here's #1 reprocessed in color with the reds brightened on the cart. Is this getting closer?

I like the reprocessed color photo - has an old time look to it. But I also still really like #4, then #3 showing well the concept of the mail service a thing of the past. GP

Thanks, Greta - I was going for exactly the concept you mention in the #3 and #4. I still get mail at home and work, but I can remember the last time I dropped something in a mail box! ne_nau.gif
