Hi All,

I'm new here so first I want to say I'm so GLAD to be here among like minded
photographers and artists! I purchased in order to make a commitment to myself
to take what I do seriously. Professionally.

That being said, I have some questions and confusion.

1. In my enthusiasm to get myself up and running, I loaded my first 10
images with no thought to resolution. Now, as I go back and read help getting
started, I see you're supposed to start with the resolution that came out of the
camera...Do I need to go back and change them all? (not sure I would even know how!)

Thx!
Femina

    Hi Femina and welcome wave.gif
Yes, upload your originals :) We create 8 display sizes from Thumbnails up to 1600px wide. You, through your gallery settings, can choose which sizes to display. Don't forget to block originals, use right click protection if you like, and also watermarking is available at the pro level.

Ok..but I often have different versions and and therefore different resolutions to my images...many times they've been re-sized (in PhotoZoom). How should I handle this by looking at your SM sizes chart and choose one closest to it?

Nope, no need to resize at all - just upload your final, finished original.

    One photographer to another....

I no longer resize my images....ever.

They are sent to smugmug at the resolution that is assigned in photoshop or lightroom. That is as high a resolution as I can maintain. Smugmug automatically produces various resized duplicates that are available for any purpose. If I need a lower res file I simply snatch it from my smugmug site or link to my desired resize on my smugmug account. I send myself smugmug "mediums" to keep an up to date portfolio on my cell phone for instance.

In gallery settings you can dictate the maximum resolution to display. For proof galleries I limit this to Large to discourage screen captures and image theft. Watermarks and right click protection aide in this as well.
