Hi Lauren. Nice dog and I like the late afternoon (?) light. I find the tree branch surrounding him a little distracting or 'busy' and it might have given a nice catch light in his eyes if his head (and you) turned camera right. Just a couple of suggestions.
I did a dog shoot a few weeks ago (and thank god I did since their elderly 16-year-old Phoebe passed away two weeks later!) and I found that to get the best vantage point, I had to sit on the ground and let the owners manage posing the dogs.
Thanks, Ceci. I wondered about the tree branch; I should have moved them but this was a quick grab in between Piper's high-speed runs around the tree. I appreciate the tips about the eyes and sitting on the ground--both good suggestions.
Here is one from a couple of years ago. Better? I see the green leash needs to be cloned out but how is his expression?
