externally powering the d90
I need to come up with a way to get longer run times out of my d90 when shooting night time timelapses. At 20-30 second exposures about the most I can get out of the two Nikon batteries in my grip is a couple hours.
The grip came with cartridge for AA batteries which I've never used. But I was wondering if I could simply solder leads to the cartridge contacts and connect them to a 6000ma 7.4v battery. I saw one at the local hobby shop the other day and it got me thinking.
But I don't know if this will cause harm to the camera. And before I spend $100 for the battery I'd like to know what you think.
I've thought about swapping out the Nikon batteries in the grip one at a time during the shoot but I run the risk of moving the camera in the process.
Thanks

Quantum is expensive.... but they are also excellent quality, I have used Quantum for over 25 yrs... I now look over eBay for used batts /w chargers as they can be rebuilt inexpensively ...however you may find less expensive China models on eBay that will work just as well. The link is for batts and CAMERA cables, not flash cables.
Thanks Art,
Yea those are a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for.

It's not what you look at that matters: Its what you see!
