Publishing from Lightroom 3

Hi All,
Not sure if this is a Lightroom 3 question or a SM question, and please forgive me if this has already been asked but here goes:
I recently set up LR3 to be able to publish directly to SM. Everything went smoothly as expected, but under the Publish Services tab on the right side of the screen, all the galleries seem to be empty. The galleries are there, but they all say "0" for the number of images. How do I get the existing images from SM to show up there? Or is this something that starts from here on out?
Thanks in advance...

When you are viewing folders under publish services in the Library module, you will see import and publish buttons. If you scroll up to the folders section, you'll see import and export buttons as you're no longer in the publisher section.

Given the proof of concept demonstrated by his publishing plug-in, is it at all likely that we may someday see a similar feature added to the official SmugMug publisher? Right now, I'm in a similar position to the OP—I've got dozens of SmugMug galleries (containing ~3,000 photos in total) and nearly every one is showing up as empty ("0") in the official SmugMug publisher (within Lightroom). Those same galleries are being "sync'd"—successfully—using Jeffrey's plug-in, although I'd prefer to not be running two different SM plug-in publishers within LR.
Not being a developer, I may very well be missing something here—but on the surface, it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to devise a method by which the official plug-in could accurately identify photos on the web (whether via capture-time, other metadata, file-names, or even manually) and then pair them with their counterpart in the LR catalog. In lieu of that option, what options to I (/we) have, and how should we proceed?
Thoughts?

Actually there is. I'm THE expert meaning I've spent months trying to make it work. After a lot of pain, misery, divorce and being abandoned by my dog, I have found some work around:
Get the Friedl's plugin, the cost is whatever you want, it's as cheap as a few pennies (whatever, Paypal's minimum is), but it's worth lot more. Move these photos in the publish and mark them as already published. I'm not at my Windows computer right now, but it's in the plug-in extras if I remember correctly.

I said that it was going to be painful. It took me almost 3 month to fix mine.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of your suggestion.
Are you saying that there is a way for the jfriedl publisher plug-in to assume control over photos on SmugMug that weren't previously uploaded with one of Jeffrey's plug-ins?
- or -
Are you saying that you can overcome the official SmugMug plug-in's inability to associate, pair and populate (i.e. "synchronize") already-uploaded images with images in the Lightroom catalog?
It seems like you're talking about the former (i.e. the jf plug-in)—but that doesn't address my particular issue. To be clear, my issue is this: I've donated for the jf plug-in, but having used the official plug-in as well (and now, with both of them active), I'd actually prefer to ditch the jf plug-in and transition everything to the control of the official plug-in. My problem: short of re-uploading 3,000 images, how can I get the official SmugMug publisher to recognize that the images on my SmugMug website correspond to images in my LR catalog? The jf plug-in has its own built-in tools for doing this (e.g. "Refresh Remote URLs" and "Associate Images…"), but there are no such tool (to my knowledge) for the official plug-in.

Edit: having re-read your post again, I'm afraid it makes even less sense. What purpose is served by running the Image List URL Generator? Since you don't specify, your instructions amount to little more than "move your photos into the publish areas and mark them as already published." I can do that already—without leaving Lightroom or using any other tools. Furthermore, unless I'm missing something (which is possible) that would simply create an illusion that photos in LR are paired with the ones on SM, when they're not actually associated with each other.
Grab the latest release from here.
