got drowned today! mpe and flash extremly wet ???
but shot springtails and this!!!!!!!!! presume its a hoverfly lavae about 10mm in length.

Are you shooting handheld for these? How do you avoid camera shake and get such good focus?

Yes , always shoot handheld .

the short focal distance of mpe , about 2 inch in these shots means i could rest lens barrel on the my fingers while holding onto the wooden post in first shot, the other 2 , i just braced against the post to hold still, using fingers against the wood!
all shots are partial focus stacks, using 3-5 frames .
flash produces the sharpness.

Lovely find and captures Phil, Yes a hoverfly larvae , but you have carefully focused on it's rear end
