Another Card Reader question (FireWire?)

Not any recent threads on FireWire readers, so i wanted to ask again. Quick question:

I am going to be getting more CF cards and a Nikon AW100. I had been using a SD Extreme3 card and a Lexar 300x card, and they import waaayyy SLOOOWWWW on my Lexar Reader (Old reader).

Because of the new camera (uses SD card) and CF card, I think I'm going to upgrade my reader. I have a FireWire port on my iMac, and can use that for a fast connection.

The Firewire readers i saw were CF only, and since I'm getting a camera with an SD card, I would like to get a fast reader than can read both. I'm thinking of the new SDX 60/MBs card too.

Anyone have a favorite FAST reader to recommend? CF card Reco welcome too...

All suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

Flash card and reader transfer speeds are extremely sensitive to timing differences and specific card/reader pairings make a tremendous difference in results. This also partly explains why it's difficult to produce a multi-card reader (CF plus SD plus CF-UDMA plus SD-Class-10, for instance) with high speeds for all types. Unless someone tests your specific card/reader/computer pairings, it's hard to draw conclusions.

That is an extensive list and a lot of work. Good source.

I noticed at least one Thunderbolt card reader in this year's CES (consumer electronics show). I wonder if they will test those too.

A few memory cards are now capable of read speeds, 125 to 150 MB/s, exceeding USB 2.0 limits, and the new XQD flash memory card is reportedly capable of even faster speeds in the future.

Thanks. I will check it it out. I'm most concerned with getting a good CF reader. I have a Lexar 16GB 300x and was going to buy another one. I guess I should look for a Lexar FW reader then...
