Howdy! New DGinner here with my first pic post. I've been lurking for months really enjoying all the fine people and places I've seen in the DGrin forums. So, I figured I'd jump in the Landscapes forum with a pic of what was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the sights in Alaska. This is Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay in August, on about the only day it didn't rain during our visit. It was awesome to see in person.

From one new dgrinner to another....howdie! I love the layers in this shot and the textures. It would be interesting to see how it looks in monochrome as I'm think the colours might actully distract from the graphic elements.

Howdy and welcome to Dgrin! clap.gif

You have a terrific composition here. There is a halo worth fixing over the top of the middle rocky area to the left. Or said a different way, the horizon line extending from about the center of the picture to the upper left hand corner.

Thanks for the greetings and suggestions Crokey and kdog - I appreciate the feedback and will give them a try. I did not notice the halo before, kdog, thanks for pointing it out.

Very nice, I like the layers and the bigger it is the better it looks.

Nice shot. Good job of capturing the blue in the ice.

Thanks for your comments Dan, racefan, and Allan - as I am new to the forums, I really appreciate the feedback.
racefan, as you and crokey suggested, I did try a B&W conversion - but as Dan commented, the blue color in the glacial ice is too attractive to give up ;)
