i like good find. It might be even better if you had pulled back moreif there was more of the same pattern.

    Mary, Travel, thank you.

Travel, I took a couple the way you suggest:

I liked the pattern better but the people were too small, in my view. It's debatable.

A real good shot! I think it is wonderful. I can't decide which I like best but your title is perfect! Hmmm looks like a few places near Scottsdale...?

Thanks, Eia. This was taken on Central Avenue in Phoenix, a little south of Camelback. There are a lot of these places.

The first version for me. Would the couple stand out more strongly in bw?

"Would the couple stand out more strongly in bw?"

    Good question.

Better, I think. I don't mean to be picky but how about a 6 by 3 balcony crop?

I like the crop for Mary.

the metaphor of cookie cutter housing is stronger (people no longer subject)

I think I still prefer the color version. Yes - the 'snowbirds' flock to these places. :D

Thanks for all the comments. The choice is mostly a matter of intent, I think. If I wanted to editorialize about how I don't care for such places, which I don't, the larger pattern or the black-and-white version would make for a stronger editorial. I think I feel more comfortable allowing the scene to be pretty in a way. The original still conveys isolation and assembly-line living but in a little more restrained way, and I think I prefer that. It's debatable.

I just like the photo! :D But can't decide which one (color versions)

These comments are a good example of the photogs approach to an image.

Does the photog shoot the surfer or the wave? No right or wrong ; just different ways
