I do believe I like the first one better...I like seeing a bit of the surroundings. I think that it still says "shape" quite nicely. I love the processing...all the detail in the stones, ground and sky.

In #2, the bottom feels cut off. It might work better if a bit of the base were included.
I love the texture in #4, but I didn't notice the fish shape at first. Then I saw it in #3 and found it in #4 as well. The blue objects in #3 draws the eye away from the building. Maybe a reshoot to exclude them from the frame?
I like everything about Remnant, #5.
I really like #6 as well, The low sun angle is wonderful and the tracks in the sand lead the eye in. You might consider cropping out the OOF dune and sky.
You might play around with cropping to focus in on just the window
and the wall beside it with the plant growing up and include some
of the textured wall. You have a lot going there.
If the bricks were sharper, I'd pick just that area and the
surrounding area.
With something like "Shapes", you need one shape as the
central subject.
Thanks. The brick wall one has picked up the most comments on my flickr posting (without the theme in mind), so I just might have to revisit that one for this...
Greg, I think the shape of the fish in the shingles is wonderful! Can you zero in on just that shape? I didn't see it in #4 until I first looked at #3, so maybe shooting straight on so you really see the fish shape?
PS I also love Remnant and I'd like the dunes better if the entire photo was in focus.

My walk yesterday was with a new (old) 20mm Nikon prime. Nice, sharp lens, but I was getting used to the manual focus. Could go back with the 50 or 24-70 and focus in more on the fish, for sure. With the same MF prime, the dune shot was, before processing, more in focus. But the focus was definitely more on the tracks about 3-4 feet away. So the dune itself was just slightly out of focus. I added the blur, trying to mimic a shallow depth of field. I might go look at the original and see if I can just sharpen the dune up and keep it that way. Thanks!
I really like 3 & 4 with the shape of the fish on the wall. But, the shape is easier made out at a distance.

I like both 4 and 5, but 4 has a slight edge IMO. I like the converging lines as the focus with the elliptical barrel tops on the fringes. The addition of the almost hidden outline of the fish gives you a little more to chew on when you thought you had taken it all in. Nice work.
As usual, Greg, you give us a lot to admire. I'm generally drawn to religious iconography, and these are no exception... very nice work. For the theme, though, I'm gonna throw my vote toward #5 and acknowledge that each of them are strong images.

I am not sure about #7 yet.
