This time of year we get some great lighting in Alaska. Here are a few just taken around home over the past few days.

Incredible light. The first one looks like a world George Lucas might dream up! I really like how the last photo is balanced with the dark cloud running counter to the dark land on the bottom, creates a nice frame for the scene, too.

Wonderful shots! The first has to be my favorite just because it's so surreal. . .floating buildings. The other two are superb as well.

Thanks for the comments, folks. This time of year we frequently get clear weather on the hillside with fog in the valley. This time it happened at the right time of day and I happened to be out and about to see it and capture the sun on the glass buildings.

    Glad you enjoyed the photos.

Terrific series, it's hard to pick a favorite. Maybe #2 if you twisted my arm. Alaska is so amazing. A blizzard with 80MPH winds sounds a bit harsh. Brrr....

wow, these are WONDERFUL1 I especially like #2. It seems so moody and has a feel for another planet. #3 is drama...love those rich colors; maybe crop off the dark cloud at top but still...#1 is really different! Just wow!wings.gif

very nice set, i really like number 1 but the only thing i would do is crop out that little bit off the bottom (not sure what it is) but its some what of a distraction.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I always struggle with cropping images. For one thing I'm a technical person so am very anal about sticking to a whole ratio of lenth/width. That imposes artificial limits on myself which I never recognize until later.

The dark strip in the bottom of the first one is an open patch in the fog and the trees/ground showing through. I really struggled with the third one whether or not to leave in the clouds. The angle of them is distracting but they are part of the "after the storm" story. The whole sky other than the horizon was still overcast with dark grey as the storm moved off to the east.

That's why feedback is wonderful. It helps to understand what others see without the same frame of reference/context as the photographer. Much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the images.
