Hello all! I've been around awhile here, but rarely post. I thought now would be a good time to jump in and post some photos. I would love any feedback offered. Thanks in advance! - Karyn

This image was taken at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park this past summer.

And this is the Bow River, also in Banff National Park:

I really like the setting and your composition. My only thought would be the sky is too bright, it doesn't look blown out but it should be darkened with a curves layer or two to add some drama to these clouds.

great compositions, Karyn, but something about the first one just doesn't seem quite right. not sure if it's the shadings and color transitions in the lake, or what, but it looks just a tad unnatural. is this HDR?

Thanks all! Squirl033 - Yes, it's HDR from a single image. I've had others comment that the lake looks unnatural, but it really is that vibrant shade of blue. It's a color unique to moraine lakes.

There's another lake nearby on the way to Jasper called "Emerald" Lake - and it really is emerald green. It the minerals in the water.

i figured it was HDR, Karyn. it's not the colors i find unrealistic - i've seen some of the lakes there, and they're a beautiful shade of deep blue-green. i think what bothers me is the sharp color shifts and transitions caused by the HDR, and what looks like a bit too much sharpness to the water's surface.
