I spent Saturday morning at a nearby city park with friends from the San Diego DSLR group on our monthly photo shoot. There was lots to shoot and plenty of opportunity for angles or shapes. Here are four I'm considering for DSS 94 - I'd appreciate any critique on connection to the theme and general response to the images....

Stairway to Nowhere is screaming angles and shapes.

Proud is awesome, beautiful bird, but doesn't seem to fit the theme.

I also like Stairway...wow, so many angles! And the black/white is perfect.

I really like the Adobe picture. It says "Shapes" to me.

I like Vise the best. It has a the sense of both anticipation and completion about it. I'm not sure if I just missed someone working or if they'll be back in a minute. I like the clean look and the contrast of the red to the neutrals. Nice shots.

Now that you mention it, and I study them further, Vise does have a quality and 'almost' negative space. It makes for a much cleaner shot. I am allowed to change my mind right? :D

Vise. Love the contrast of the red on white, the composition, the lines (subtle by they cannot be ignored) and the quiet story of the shavings. It's beautiful. I'd hang it on my wall.

Looking at the Vise with my right brain and not my left, it is pretty cool. Nice clean "T" shape. But my left brain keeps pulling me back to the patchwork quality of the wall in #1.

I like Stairway to Nowhere and Proud the best. (Numbers would be nice in addition to the titles! :D) #1 definitely fits the theme but doesn't really draw me into the shot.

#3 is intriguing because it shows the angles of these feathers extending from the body and yet the overall feeling is of softness. I'm wondering whether you could give just a little more definition to some of the angled lines in the body and/feathers to bring these out a bit more, but I really like this shot!

Edit: I also like the vise....

#1 fits best in my opinion too.

#3 is wonderful but not that much for this theme (or at least I don't see it...)

    #5 is really funny Laughing.gif

I like the staircase... seems to fit the theme best to me.

I agree with the consensus that #1 works well for this challenge. Looks good in B&W; love the lines and angles and it has visual humor especially with your title. The others are nice too, but #1 gets my vote. GP

Thanks for all the comments. I particularly appreciate the comments about the vise shot, which is one of my final considerations, but #1 does seem to address the theme well, too. They're so different, yet each seems to meet my initial thinking about how to address the theme. Guess it's time to go with the gut.

#1 for the competition, but for the record the last one is my favorite of the group. Excellent shot!!!
