A HUGE Moon!

The last full moon sure was big coming over the mountains. I thought it looked bigger than the super moon. The higher it got the smaller it looked - but I think it looks fake, especially looking so transparent. But that is the way it looked to me! CC always appreciated!

    Does look frickin' huge! Must have been atmospheric conditions acting like a lens or something.

    Nice shot! There's a fair amount of jpeg compression artifacts in the sky, though that is most likely caused by the upload... I really like the sharp layers between the foreground, and the hills/mountains.. Gives the image a real sense of depth.

    On a side note, the moon is the same size (essentially) the entire time. It is simply an optical illusion that is described here... :)

    Thanks much! Given that my husband saw the size of the moon as well - I'll go with the first explanation from the link MooseKiller gave. That was interesting! Thanks again for the comment....learned something new!
