Hey Everyone!

It looks like we've had a few Snowy Owl shots this winter on Dgrin.

This winter a lot of Snowy Owls in British Columbia have come to the south coast to winter.

Apparently there is a 5 to 7 year cycle that is tied in to their food supply that triggers this winter migration.

At Boundary Bay Park in Tsawassen there are currently 50 or more staying around the dikes. They hunt at night and then spend the days yawning and sleeping and generally resting on logs. Some of them were in pretty bad shape by the time they got down to the coast.

There are a crazy amount of photographers snapping away at them all day but they don't seem to mind.

I talked to some that had even driven up from California to photograph this phenomenom.

I'm not really a big bird photographer but here are a couple of my shots from a beautiful winter morning over in Tsawassen.
