It was too "nice" - harsh sun and hot. However, it is always nice there and if you are a bit patient you will be rewarded with views like that.

You should visit. It is fantastic. I recommend going on weekday if you want to take so good shots. My F707 maxes at 190mm - trust me it is not enough! Take something longer if you can but no more than 300mm.

Do not use AF in spider monkey exhibit - it will not work (well, at least Sony's AF is useless due to some lights they are using there). I also recommend the bird show, but you need a cam with no lag and lightning reflexes. This counts my camera out ;-(

Excellent Ted. The 707 was one of my favorite cameras.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry for the kind comment.

My 707 is well overdue for replacement not because there is better gear around but because it is developing quirky faults. I have my eye on 2 possible candidates but I will not make the move until I know I can get the whole "solution". I see no point in getting a camera and a kit class lens.

Until very recently 20D was my only choice, however the leaked data on Nikon D200 makes that camera an instant candidate too. And since few years ago I gave my old EOS camera and lenses away to my mother-in-law I have no legacy struff to stop me from a new choice.
