Geo targetting by Google

Although i have the domain name niphotos registered in the .com and .co.uk mode as well as the others , i used the .co.uk when i again joined Smugmug , unknown to me i was not then able to target the USA because of this , to my suprise today i added niphotos.smugmug.com to Google webmasters and to my utter surprise i was then presented with a screen allowing me to target the USA !! , now i dont know if this is right or wrong or if it will benifit my ratings in the USA , any advice or suggestions etc would be appreciated......joe:rolleyes
