Spent last weekend in the Page AZ area.
Got out to the Hoodoos in time for moonrise 11:30pm and shot until 2am

Awesome shots! The first one would be my favorite, it's totally otherworldly. Both your night-time shots are immaculate. I have been meaning to get out and try this myself away from the city, but keep finding convenient excuses not to sit out all night in freezing temperatures(like I need an excuse!)Is the strong lighting from a full moon? I had no idea of the size of these things until I saw the other photographer in number 4.

Terrific stuff. Excellent work in capturing the otherworldly look to this area.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

    Thank Colin-

It was indeed very cold during this shoot, the water I had with me actually froze while I was shooting these shots.

The lighting in the first two is only from the moon which was 3/4 full.

I always try to include someone or something in a series of shots to provide scale. The formations in the first two shots are both over 30ft tall and the ridge in the background is probably a 200ft cliff face.

    Thanks for your comments. thumb.gif

Amazing place, terrific photos. You certainly need some ingredient to provide a sense of scale and you have it.

Fascinating! They are all so interesting but the first two is something from Star Trek set. I almost missed the photo in the last!:D

Great stuff, Aaron. I envy the shots, but not the frigid temperatures you had to endure to get them. That moonlight is insane. Good job lining up Polaris over the ghost. thumb.gif

Don- this is a pretty cool place to shoot. Adding scale also has the benefit of getting cool shots of friends or even yourself.:D Thanks for the comments.

Thanks Eia. You should make a trip up to Page. Lots of things to shoot.

Thanks. I wanted to shoot a few different angles but as the moon continued to rise the light changed including shadows on this feature.

Thanks Chris. I have to admit I really like shooting night stuff now that I have a camera that can handle the noise. deal.gif

It wasn't that cold- I've been out in worse. I think it was about the same as when you were last out there with me. Difference is this time we didn't even start shooting until 11:30pm. :D
