Love the subject. nice job! I think it may be even more interesting cropping in way close or doing a vertical crop... seems a bit spacious to my eye... but cutting the gradient off might just make it worse... lol, just a thought

i actually did try verticle crop, not prefered this original for some reason, could be the darker band on left side playing off the drop ?

Yeah the gradient adds to it. Maybe a horizontal 4:5 ratio crop to take off some excess on both sides. I think you can still include the gradient with 4:5 and get the same effect without feeling like it has excess negative space.
