I know, I know, I need to start posting my own shots again instead of links.
I'm sure most of you have seen this:

I'm in love with this couple and with the shooting here.
I love the candid way this was shot. I know this is a "street" forum etc. but this is the way I attempt to shoot my own family most of the time--with an exception of a few cheesy poses.
This is why I believe candids belong in this forum too.
I do realize that some are likely "staged" for the benefit of the photographer but it doesn't detract in any way in my opinion.
What a story.

"street" and "candid". Street is usually, if not always, candid
photography.
Possibly you are defining "street" as the photography of
strangers and "candid" as the photography of family members
or people that you know.
If so, then we wouldn't know the difference between candid
and street because we wouldn't recognize the people.
Another thought is that you see "street" as encompassing
more than the person and "candid" a more close-up view of
the person. I see, and take, both scenes.
I prefer to use the term "candid" because there's a connotation
in "street" that is not always in my photographs. I think of "street"
as candid photography in an urban setting. The setting available
to me is not, in the sense that I use the word, very urban. It isn't
country or suburban, but it just isn't urban the way I think of "urban".

I like this description. I agree.
