hello forum,

i'm just back from five days in the adirondack mountains of new york, fishing and relaxing with my (entire extended) family. there were 28 of us up there... photography of the creative sort was not first on the agenda for me, and that sort of felt good. no pressure, no worries, just relaxing, with a fly rod, a cold drink, and evenings with a good book, maybe a poker game... oh and teaching my youngest son how to fish. that was a blast. my oldest
boys (17, 16) were out at dawn and back only for (substantial amounts of) food. and then back out again ;-) it's so cool to watch the kids growing up into young men.

it was very gloomy for the first two days

after gloomy usually comes rain

the weather finally started to change late friday afternoon

i did manage to get to the river at 530am and catch the dawn breaking

not carrying my lenshoods for 2 days, i was a dummy and forgot it
when i needed it ;-)

my wide angle lenses got a workout. this is a stretch of the river
that my oldest son and i hiked about three hours to get to.... the
fishing was excellent, and we enjoyed a nice riverside lunch of
pan-fried trout.

i shot a lot of infrared, and i've yet to process most of the
shots. here's one, of the south branch of the moose river:

and on saturday morning the dawn was the best of the five days

enjoy (in the woods) photography,

    enjoy (in the woods) photography,
Beautiful shots Andy but even more beautiful was you being able to be with your family in the wilderness. I bet that will stay with you for years. I did a backbacking trip with my son when he was about 28. We hiked and climbed the Wonderland Trail around Mt Rainier in Washington state. The challenges and the beauty of the wilderness was something I shall treasure always. Now he's up to his eyes in a new business, and a new family and I'm so glad we had that special time together.
Looks like a lovely peaceful time.. as you know I'm a huge fan of the wild out doors. I'm thrilled to be able to go on my canoeing trip in the wilderness in August.. complete with walking cast!! and camera of course.
    Thanks for sharing.
