You should try it in black and white and see what it looks like.
Setup: One camera, one lens, and one roll of film.
The orange and white has nice contrast in color, but I thought it would be kind of weak in B&W. After your suggestion I tried it anyway and I was right, it doesn't pop at all. If I wanted to put the time into creating the mask I think it might do well with a desaturated and darkened background though.
I tried playing with the crop but you really need the whole hanger there or it looks odd. It's too bad the background is so busy but sometimes you have to take what you've got :-).
