Picnik gone!

I got an email from Picnik stating that April 2012 they are closing! Google bought them out only to get rid of it. They are attempting to offer a poor substitution, and I mean dirt poor.
I use a LR3/Picnik combo to edit my photos, specifically the airbrush, eyebright, wrinkles tool, tweaking my black and whites, and so many preset type settings, the advance feature, cloning, the cinematic borders, collages--I could go on and on.
Did I miss an announcement here about what if anything smugmug will do in its place since it is offered as an editing tool here also.
Can anyone recommend a program that is similar. I am willing to pay some but not CP5 type prices. Elements maybe? I actually want to purchase something so that the rug is not yanked out from under me again. I know whatever program it is has a learning curve and I have shoots coming up and I'm a technically challenged person and it takes me a bit to learn new programs.
Please any help would be appreciated.

There are several great programs out these days. Have a look at offerings from OnOne Software, Nik Software, to name a few. Lightroom is super powerful, and there are lots of ways to do those edits in Lightroom too!

Thats very good news. I tend to use Picnik to make minor tweaks to images once loaded as it saves time doing it back in Photoshop and uploading a duplicate
I look forward to seeing what the replacement will be
