Took this picture in Barcelona, but unsure which looks best, colour or black n white?

I also put a little selective blur (gaussian) to draw the viewer into their faces.

How come the B&W version seems to have more out of focus area at the bottom?

(don't ask me about B&W vs,. color because the answer would almost always be BB&W :-) )

This is one that I think can be done either B/W or color. I do not react differently to either. There are no distractions and the skin color and golden dog add a warmth to that version, but not enough to choose one or the other.

Wonderful image. But for whatever it's worth, I'd throw out my Photoshop cool effects kit and concentrate on the photography - which is quite nice. First off, this image doesn't need anything to draw the viewer to the man and the dog. And second, truth be told, the fact that the boot closer to the camera appears to be much more in focus than the dog's butt draws attention not the faces, but to the use of gaussian blur. I had a similar reaction to those otherwise wonderful demonstration pictures. When I saw the first colorized version - for that's what it looked like - I stopped thinking about the subject of the photo and thought instead 'WHAT?!?! happened to this photo?' Seriously, you've got a good eye - your images don't need this kind of screwing around. At least that's my opinion. :-)

That's why it immediately jumped out at me. Something looked odd but I didn't analyze it.

You can get that effect if you were using a view camera and do a swing and tilt but who would do that nowadays :-)?

Thank you for your opinion, it's worth a lot, how else would I learn without constructive critique. As I said in my G20 Riot thread, I am sometimes guilty of over processing, I think I'm going through the Photoshop Honeymoon period.
