OCF continually fires.

I may need to be committed if I don't soon figure this out!

I have:

5dmrkii
430ex flash
Cactus triggers v4

They fire and work wonderfully, but they fire, even when I haven't pressed the shutter. What I've noticed is that SOMETIMES when I take my shot, they fire, and then will fire again one or two times after I pushed the shutter.

Seriously, I've dumbed it down for myself as much as I can, and just can't figure it out!
Please help!

I have the flash on "slave" in the Manual Mode
Can you tell me how to make it stop firing? Should I try a different channel??
I am afraid my model is going to go into an epileptic seizure if I don't soon figure this out!

Does this happen if the flash is attached to the camera, or only using the Cactus system?

Then yes, try changes to the wireless system, starting with channel selection.

I do suspect that the logic control circuits of either the transmitter or the receiver may be acting up/failing. The next time it acts up, turn off the transmitter. If the problems continue (with the transmitter turned off) then the problem is with the receiver. If the problems cease with the transmitter turned off, then the problem is with the transmitter.

I believe "slave" would only be the correct mode for ETTL triggering. Since you are triggering from the hot-shoe with simple manual sync, your wireless setting should be OFF on the flash.

I'm not sure how this relates to your problem. Maybe the slave eye is picking up its own exposure flash and interpreting it as an ETTL command? headscratch.gif

Edit to add: I'm referring to the OFF/SLAVE switch on the bottom of the 430EX control panel. It is for ETTL wireless and has nothing to do with wireless triggers like the cactus. For the latter, it should be "OFF". The switch is visible at the very bottom of this image off Amazon: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/7b/8a/54f6c060ada0b4c3018ba110.L.jpg
