Crazy textures! I actually misread the heading of this post as "Pandora"(from Avatar) and I had to agree. Then I read it again...doh! This is purely down to personal taste, but maybe the clouds are a little over-cooked? Maybe if they were slightly flatter the mountain would stand out even more. Only one opinion though:D

Appreciate the critique. My intent is to show every ripple and crack in the mountain. Taken at this time of day it really shadows the cracks to begin with then some playing with contrasts. I am big on skies...I will take your suggestion to downplay the sky into consideration and take a look at it like that.

Very nice. I am also enjoying the tremendous detail, you can really explore images like this one. I like the clouds as they look highly polarized to me and that is a look that I love. I may have a helpful suggestion. As I look at the clouds I'm feeling that the natural flow which takes your eyes back towards the mountain could be a little stronger. It may be because its not as bright as the clouds. Possibly raising the highlights on the mountain while dropping the sky a stop darker but keeping the clouds as they are... what do you think?

Funny. I just looked up pingora to see where this is and then did a google image search for it. With your image above serving as the baseline expectation, I had a hard time finding any that called on me to view them at full size until I found one and clicked... yea, some guy named Zoomer does good work. You should check him out. Lol.

    Thanks Adamideas,
Funny story on the google lookup :).

We think alike. I did darken the sky over all to accent the mountain more already. If you look closely...the brightest (close to it anyway) spot is right in the middle of the photo. I dodged and burned to create that effect....from your comment looks like I could have gone further. I brought the brightest spots in the clouds down a bit as well.

When I created and processed this photo I was thinking what a great image it would be for the hordes of rock climbers that descend upon this mountain every year....they can see every nook & cranny in detail.
A couple that I met just few minutes before I took this photo told me they were there watching their sun climp Pingora...and that he was currently on the mtn. I took this photo thinking I would be able to spot his climbing team on the peak later...never did spot them.
The couple later contacted me and I sent them a copy of this photo.
