I took a family hike into Point Lobos yesterday which I consider the beginning of the Big Sur coastline. This time of the year the whale migration can be amazing to watch. Yesterday was one of those days. We took some friends with us who are new to the area and they were completely blown away. Grey whales were passing by constantly and very close to shore as they migrated south.
Here are a few shots from the day. I don't even own a very long zoom - 70-200L on a FF 5DII + 1.4 tc. So you can how close they are.

Actually this was due to clouds on the horizon causing the shape to change. After this it actually took on an hourglass shape for the same reason.
