Shot indoors yesterday. Five manually focused images stacked in Helicon. Used two studio flash; one behind with a softbox (that's the white backdrop) and the other at the front. Then rotated the image 90 deg CCW.

petal detail looks a bit grainy ? any thoughts

I think the 'grain' is the detail that is picked out by the back light. had I just shone the front light on the subject a lot of it would have been reflected back, and the detail would not have shown. I could be wrong though.
