I really like this one. The long exposure makes the street look void of people even though it may have been packed( the trail from a cyclist on the sidewalk suggests there were some people here at least). The BnW conversion really helps the mood, I'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as successful in color. Very nice indeed.thumb.gif

    Thanks Colin,

This has actually been shot on 4x5" b&w film. It is not a color to bnw conversion. Stockholms streets are preety bare at this location. I did shoot a version on velvia as well.. It has a different feel..

That's quite a rarity these days, shooting on film on mean. I was wondering how you managed to tease the subtle tonal differences out in places like the surface of the tarmac, now I know! It must have been quite a long exposure with film I imagine.

I live in Stockholm and of course know this view intimately. I think it is a good capture of the place at dusk (http://g.co/maps/2g8u2 gives an overview on google maps). I miss a bit of shadow coverage in the center but it might add to the feeling of the view. Well done!

Early/late summer? 9 February 2011 is not likely, no snow. :-)

Thank you. I am unclear what do you mean by shadow coverage?

Oh, I just meant that the dark parts might be a bit too black. But it is very hard to tell without trying, a change in that might be bad for the impression.
