Ok, so Im a true amateur for fun photo guy. I do want a somewhat good tripod and ball head. I already settled on the tripod in a Manfrotto 190XDB. The ball head I have chosen is the 498RC4.

Did I make good choices. The tripod is already in my hand but Im about to push the button on the ball head. I keep reading that it is important to buy a good quality combo so you dont end up disappointed and have to upgrade soon.

I bought the tripod because I like the independent leg settings. I spend a lot of time in odd places hiking in the hills. Anyhow, I think I did ok, but not certain. I dont need top of the line stuff since I never ever sell anything as its just a hobby for me. Respect to all you actual photographers with actual skill :)

Oh, just in case Im shooting with a Rebel T3i and the heaviest lens is the Canon 100mmL Macro.

The RC4 ballhead is really big. Go for a RC2 head instead!
