Mould on Cheese (abstract for camera club)

We have the next round of comp entries at the camera club due on Thursday and I have been saving a piece of cheese that had a bit of mould on it to see if I could get anything interesting.
This is what I ended up with - I was hoping the mould would become more colourful over time, but it remained white.
I contemplated changing it to B&W and making it look like a moonscape too. Might have a go at that after anyway. Do you think that would work or is this abstract enough as it is?

That said, I'm a total newbie to macro photography and anything I offer should probably be taken with a very large grain of salt.

I think the yellow color was putting me off - plus I kept wondering what might lurk in my fridge.
Check the fridge Eric!
