(Print) sizes and labs in EU

Well, congratulation of this very big work to do a new pricelist with other currencies than only $ is!
I´ll waith this day when i can set my prices in € or £ than $.

My first question is about sizes. As i understand they are with inches?
1.Is there any place where do I can change it in to metric system or is shown how big this size is in metric? I am located in Europe and here the majority of countries (and clients :rolleyes) use metric system.

I use mostly for web size of 800 x 600px. They are good for FB and also good to look at the computer. 640px i use in my blog and some websites use it also.
2. Can be there more sizes for download except only what there is? Let say some custom size what do i can set my own?

About panoramas.
3. What will happens then, if my panorama is with different sizes than you have?
Is there any change to set "my own" custom size.
I think any lab is able to set theys printers to different sizes.

About labs.
4.Is there any list where do i can find in what countries are those companies who are co-workers with SM and where do my clients can get prints ordered from my website? I am interested at first from Finland, Latvia and Lithuania. And in future from UK also.

I am glad if you have read this and give any feedback of those thoughts. :):

Thanks! We're very excited about it.

    1) Our labs offer prints sizes in Imperial units, so we don't expect to have a converter, however, you can find many of them across the web, such as: http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/inches-to-centimeters.htm

    2) I don't think we'll be adding more Digital Download sizes. We have lots of options that seem to fit most people's needs. If we were to hear a great demand for more variety of sizes, we'd certainly consider it.

    3) Hopefully our partners will have the pano size you're looking for. Bay Photo has quite a selection. If you can match the width to one of the print sizes offered, you can always order using our 'no-crop' option, which will print white borders that can be trimmed away by you, creating essentially a custom size.

    4) Currently, we have EZ Prints in Georgia, and Bay Photo in California. They do ship worldwide. :)

    I hope this info helps!

    Yay! Fantastic!

Like the OP I also wish for sizes in cm/mm. There are EU rules for displaying those in price lists (not that aggressively enforced but anyway).

Worse is that the customers won't understand the sizes and that our standard sizes are, of course different. Common sizes for copies are 10x15cm and 20x30cm.

If you should find that you need a Swedish lab :D: One of the more popular pro labs here is Crimson, their main web is in Swedish, but some applications can be run in English. They have different applications for different products and from what I've heard they provide good APIs for integration. Their technical site can be found here.

Your labs naturally print in imperial sizes because they are US based. However, many Smugmuggers are NOT in the US and this is one of THE biggest drawbacks to try and sell prints for non-USA customers.
Whilst EZ Prints and Bay Photo may ship worldwide, I can tell you NO-ONE will buy any print of mine from overseas ... they just won't do it. I really got my back up with your little smiley - this has been brought up so many times with Smugmug that it is not OK to brush off all those people with a little smug (pun intended) smiley.
So ... I have a Pro account, where the main feature is totally useless to me. I just can't understand why you can't negotiate with reputable print companies in other countries so customers can print locally.
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

I will just point out if ever changes are made to photo dimensions that in the UK, despite being in the EU, inches measurements are still generally preferred :)

That is of course true. On the other hand UK uses cm for television sizes where the otherwise completely metric Sweden use inches. :D

UK is of course an important and large country but as far as I know is is more common to use cm for print sizes in the EU. At least the Scandinavian countries, the German and French speaking parts use centimeters. So it would be a nice option. If only the labs can do it the customers could select themselves, I guess.
