I have read and searched through the many paypal threads. I understand adding buttons, etc since I use them on my other websites. One thing I cannot seem to find an answer for (wiki does not explain, threads from 2009 dont explain either)....

Does adding PayPal just add the button, then I get paid, then I order, print, mail the images/product? Or does adding paypal actually work WITH smugmug where smugmug handles the transaction, printing through printer, mail, etc just as if I did not add paypal?

Smug doesn't currently accept PayPal as a method of payment. You would need to submit the orders yourself (as opposed to the customer placing the order and using a credit card).

You could add your vote for this at http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/384175-use-paypal-as-an-alternative-order-payment-method.

I have used Paypal for years. For the last year I have had all my shoot booking on my site with buttons made on Paypal. Has worked wonderfully for me and my clients

It's no hassle once it's up and running, you make more money and you can offer whatever currency Paypal supports.

The hassle is that you have to arrange printing and shipping yourself. I know some people do this by self fulfilment and some immediately place and pay for an order with Smugmug themslves as site owner and have it delivered to the customer.

Personally I don't offer prints - it's too much hassle. I do sell digital files and user Paypal for this - it's great and I am selling 3-4 times as many images as when I was using Smugmug to do the sales - all because my customers can pay in local currency.

    Cheers - N

looks like you are more of an event shooter...I wanted to see how you handled selling Prints and found only one in the Prints for Sale Gallery ... I like the idea of the drop down but how would you do that for a gallery with hundreds of images ... How would you link the pay pal button to several hundred or even thousands of images for sale??

I have several hundred that I am now converting from film to digital and I have a fantastic PRO lab here locally, that I fulfill with.
